We continued our tradition of making homemade gingerbread houses with friends early on in the month.
Grant modeled his Santa outfit he wore at 6 months. It still fits... kind of. We let him open a few gifts before we headed for Ohio.
We packed til 3 am the night before we left and woke up at 6:30 to catch our flight...
Grant was so stoked to fly and he stayed awake the entire leg of the first flight. Toward the 4th hour, he looked more like this:
The only real tragedy that happened on our way out there was losing "Ganka"- his very special blanket was left in the Dallas airport, never to be found again. We ended up making him a new one in Ohio that he loves.
Ohio= snow and cold weather and Grant loved it. We spent time sledding and playing outside until our fingers froze.

Making cookies with Grandma Dot
Grant starred as a shepherd... Sandy was a sheep. I was an angel who wore Jenni's old costume with unfortunate stains, so no pictures will be shown.
Grant got to open one present on Christmas Eve. It was an original sleeping bag that Grandma made him, with a stuff sack and draw string... and a pillow! We will surely take it camping (in zero degree temps)!
Grandpa read the Night Before Christmas and Grant played Santa.
Here is Grant "helping" to put a plate of cookies out for Santa.
Christmas morning Grant found is borrowed present. We bought him an authentic Radio Flyer trike, but didn't want to take it to Ohio. So, Aunt Linda borrowed a bike as a stand-in. Grant was just as happy.
Here's the loot... some of it anyway. He would have been tickled just to get his stocking, but we made him open more gifts... for about 2 hours.
Aunt Sandy and Aunt Jenni won the prize this year for giving Grant his favorite gifts: Buzz and Woody. He eats, plays and sleeps with them and will not let anyone touch them.
The aftermath of Christmas Day
That night we celebrated Sandy's 23rd birthday
While Will and I were in Amish Country for a day, Grant was having the time of his life eating frosting and playing in cubby holes near the ceiling. I asked Sandy if Dorothy knew about this. Her reply: "Oh, it was her idea!" Grandma, you stunt devil...
Ice Skating in tennis shoes
Ice Skating for real... though I was so horrible that I fell straight on my knees and bruised them both. A perfect end to a VERY fun trip!
