4 months old!!

On Saturday, Grant turned 4 months old! It's hard to believe that he's growing up so fast. We wish he could stay this age forever because of all the cute things he does. Not only does he smile, laugh, coo and tell funny stories, but he ROLLS OVER! Yes, as of yesterday, he finally rolled over... but here's the down-side: he did it for the first time at the babysitter's house! How rude. She had no idea how long we'd been working with him to accomplish this milestone in his life, because she casually announced, "Oh, he likes rolling over- he's done it a few times today." What??! I couldn't believe he did that without me! I got over it once I put him on his belly and saw him roll over within 30 seconds. I was one of those overly-proud parents who claps if her baby drools or farts. I had to show Will Grant's new trick!

Come on, Grant, show Dad! Apparently, he still can't do it on cue. We promise to get pictures and actual footage when he decides to roll over again.

At his 4 month appointment, Grant weighed in at 19 big ones! He's still in the 98th percentile for his height and weight. The funny thing is that a little girl walked into the doctor's office with her parents when we were leaving and stepped on the scale. I had to turn around and peak. She weighed 21 pounds! I had to laugh. My 4 month old son weighs 2 pounds less than an 18 month old! Honestly, doesn't he look like a little man?

My sister has a little girl, Rylee, who will be 2 in December. I think she finally hit her 20 pound mark last month. I'm trying to figure out how cousins can be so different. She's like a little precious moments doll and Grant is more like a wrestle-mania action figure. It must be the Titera genes...

Grandpa Bill came to visit!

Good ole' Grandpa Titera! He looks like a natural, huh? Even though it was an hour past Grant's bedtime and he was not in the best mood, the minute Grandpa walked in the door, Grant started cooing, laughing and telling all kinds of stories. It was pretty entertaining to see how much charm he turned on to impress his grandpa. We had a lot of fun! Thanks for the visit, Bill!

Hmm. Not so sure why Grant looks startled. But shortly after this picture, he barfed all over Grandpa's dry clean only sports coat. I'm going to buy him some "play clothes" to wear around Grant next time. Something besides slacks and dress shirts- maybe jeans and a t-shirt?

Developmental Stages...

Tummy Time

Grant seems pretty content to NOT roll over.

We've coaxed, encouraged, demonstrated and even bribed him.

He lifts his head up. Sometimes he barfs a little, but still...

no progress but grunts and kicks.

He may have too much weight to deal with...

... at 18 pounds, he's content to just lay there!

Maybe 3 1/2 months is too young for Johnny Jumper, but we thought we'd try and see if maybe Grant was gifted or something.

He missed the whole idea of jumping and just drooled all over the tray. We'll try again next month...

Cousins in Portland

Last weekend we took advantage of Will's meeting in Portland and made a mini-vacation. We saw Grant's cousins, Clayton and Packer. They had a great time making forts, going to DQ and having a sleep-over.

Packer was pretty good about not poking Grant's eye's out... as tempting as it was. He decided to wait until Grant could defend himself.

What a georgeous Sunday! We took a walk and didn't get very far without the boys stopping for blackberries. When Will kept reminding Clayton to stay out of the road, he said, "I'm trying to teach you to be safe." Clayton's response: "Only parents can teach! Not babysitters!" Well, now we know.

We had to take the "bath time" pictures. Grant was somewhat confused. He's never had to share his bath with anyone before.

What can I say? He's an only child.

Neil Diamond concert!!

This is us illegally taking a picture at the... Neil Diamond concert right here in Seattle. We were the youngest ones there! Even though Neil is 100 years old, he can still put on a pretty good show. Will was like a high school kid at a punk show. He loves Neil and would probably marry him if he were female, a member of the church and willing to put him before his career. I decided that before I die, I will sing "You Don't Bring Me Flowers Anymore" with Neil for a the deut of my life! Until then, Will and I remain faithful fans in the balcony, taking pictures from section 203, seats 5 and 6

As cute as he is, and as much as he begged, we did NOT take Grant. But just for the record, his first introduction to the world of music was from Neil's best selling album "Hot August Night."
